A look back....

Well here we are.......It's May. It's been about a month sense the tour has been over with. As I look back at it here is the good, the bad, and the ugly.

My favorite part of tour - Seeing how beautiful our country is. I had never been west of Denver before. Seeing the west coast was amazing. God is beautiful. His creation is outstanding!

Least favorite part of tour - Never sleeping in the same place twice. It was hard at first waking up in a new place every day. Never knowing where you were going to stay was interesting. Having a nice hotel was like GOLD! We stayed at some interesting places for sure! The worst - Days Inn in Chicago, IL. Hole in the tube, old soap, no window=nasty. Best - Morgantown WV. Hotel on the river, big room, big tub, very nice clean room. Beautiful!

Driving was also interesting. I drove through snow, rain, sleet, heat, fog, smog, every condition you can think of. It was great and bad. Driving through the mountains of West Virginia in a fog so dense I could not see 10 feet in front of me was the worst drive ever. Driving from Portland to northern California was INCREDIBLE!!!!

Best Venue - The metropolitan theatre in Morgantown, WV. Old theater that had an awesome balcony, awesome paintings, awesome chandelier.

Worst Venue - Really, there were no venues that were horrible. I'll give this to all the shows that were cancelled, those venues stunk!

Best food - Main Street Cafe! Cool venue in Kansas City. HOMEMADE food!!! It was awesome. Chicken Pot pie, Macaroni and Cheese, fruit.....amazing!

Worst food - Everywhere that served pasta!!! haha, which was everywhere else basically. Don't get me wrong, I wont complain over free food, but EVERY place we went has pasta, pizza, ect.... It got old really fast. But it was free so I cant complain too much.

Best crowd - This is a toss-up. The Memphis show was AWESOME! but it was a home crowd so I cant give it the full credit. Phoenix,AZ was the best show we had. We were the opening band on the tour and the crowd went crazy for us and even wanted an encore!!!! It was crazy!!!! That was an incredible feeling. (Notable crowd: Orlando - my hometown, it was awesome)

Worst Crowd - The one person that showed up for our gig in Springfield, IL. HAHAHAHA - wow was that awkward. The one person wasn't lame, it was lame that one person came. Tho the crowd was junky, it was fun to play that night. We jammed a little bit and just had fun.

Overall, I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. God showed me so much about him, me, and everyone else. God is good. He grew me in my musical abilities, my relationship with him, my relationship with others, and so on. I would love to tour again (I get to this summer!!! woohoo) I could see myself doing this for the next chunk of my life. I love spreading the word of God through music. God changed lives through us and our music, and that is something I want to be involved in for a long time.

Thanks to all who have been reading this blog, I hope that you were blessed by it in some way or another.

Van troubles :(

Well we made it almost the whole tour without any van problems. But yesterday we hit a road block. Our van died on our way through New York. We lost all the electrical stuff in the van (lights, gauges, ect..) and the van just stopped working. So we took it to a shop to get the alternator fixed and a new battery. We got the van and everything was fine, we started driving to our show that was happening that night. We drove about 5 hours and the van died again. We were about 5 miles from the venue and couldnt go anywhere. So we got someone to come jump us to get us to the venue, the van died just as we pulled in. Now were in the hotel room trying to figure out what to do.

Just pray that we can get home, we have a show in memphis on wednesday that we want to get back for.

Also pray for Dizmas. As we were on our way to show before our van died again, we got a call and there van is completely dead. They have to basically get a new car. This puts them out for the rest of the tour it looks like.

I dont know what God is doing, but it is good regardless of all of this.

Last night we did play as our van rolled into the parking lot. We started the set out with some praise music and it calmed our hearts and mind. We give all glory to God, because his plans are far greater than anything that we can imagine.

hope all is well,

tonights show = yea..................

So we played in Macomb, Illinois tonight. After are cancellation last night we were ready to rock it tonight. We get there, cool venue, its and old church with a cool stage. Smelled a little funky (old people smell with a little touch of fabreze)(sorry if thats offending :)

Like usual, we start setting up gear, merch, ect... We sound check, everything sounds great, people are happy.......

7:00 rolls around and we soon realized that this show was going to be special..........there was a total of ONE person there.......ONE...........yes, uno person.

No to most, this would sound terrible. Tho it was, we had an amazing time. We played no songs from our normal set. We jammed, played old songs, and totally had fun. It was a great time because the only people there were the bands and ONE person so it was totally relaxed and we all just had fun and played crazy songs, random things, and jams.

So yes, you can have fun with one person at the show......woot.

Im really excited for tomorrows gig. We are at Club 3 degrees in Minneapolis. Rumor has it that there are masseuses backstage that = GLORIOUS.

We have done a ton of driving the last 7 days. I've been to 7 states in seven days.......CRAZY!!!!!

I have been reading a lot in the gospels as of late. I am loving reading parables and other things. Also have been reading in Ephesians and 1 Peter. Every morning I try to read Psalms, to me it is just an uplifting to book (geared towards God of course) and being a musician i love reading them so its a great thing for me to read in the morning....

I am looking at purchasing a alcahemy 21" professional medium ride. Great crash/ride. Little expensive but amazing....

Hope everyone is good,

Show Cancelled :(

We had a show tonight in Oklahoma that was cancelled. The promoter basically dropped the ball and didnt care about the tour. We were all upset, but there is not much we can do. So we are going to drive towards St. Louis and see how far we get. We have off tomorrow so that will be nice. We are going to stay at one of the church's we played at in St. Louis. Then we play in Illinois the day after.

Im really tired, sore, worn out. This next day off will be great....

hope all is well,

bloody knuckles and cracked cymbals......

Tonight were in Salina, Kansas. AWESOME venue. Its a really slick night club, game room, cafe, basketball court combination. Lots of stuff to do. Best of all is the green room. First off, its upstairs from the stage. I walked in and there they were, 12 leather recliners, a HD projector, and surround sound. GLORIOUS!!!! Were watching march madness right now.....great game between UNC and LOU.....looks like UNC will take it.

Anyways, the bloody knuckles. The past 6 gigs I've cracked my knuckle on the hi-hat and bled everywhere. On my jeans, shirts, snare drum, cymbals. Thankfully blood comes out of cloths, so thats good. The thing is that im so amped up that I never see it till after were done playing. I've tried moving my hi-hats, and I still end up hitting them. I guess I just have to get used to it until I can figure something out.

Cymbal cracking is another crappy thing. My 16" AAX crash cracked about 3 weeks ago, and tonight I was looking at my 19" K hybrid crash and it has about an 1/8" crack on the edge. Im like "CRAP." I think I need to play softer. Well I know I do. The thing is that I've just been getting sooooo sooooo into it the last 3 weeks that I just flat out go nuts and m arms go where they want, hahah. I was talking with clay, the drummer from dizmas, and I think im going to get some ride/crash combos. He has a 21" professional alchemy ride that SINGS like no ones business. He crashes that thing like mad. I really love the sound and its beefy and big. I guess ill look into some stuff when I get back to M-Town and can get the drum shop. If anyone has some suggestions, just leave a comment.

This leg of the tour has definitely more grueling. We have a lot more shows booked back to back. Were going from Kansas City, MO - Salina, KS - Allen, TX - Tulsa, OK in four days. Crazy I know....

Anyone that is reading this I have a prayer request. I found out today that my uncle Tom has cancer. He had been having bad chest pains the last week or so and the other night they got so bad they took him to the emergency room. They did some tests and found that he has cancer. Unfortunately it has taken over most of his bones and one of his bones is actually almost deteriorated already. Lift him up in prayer please........

Well I hope that anyone who is reading this is doing well

take care....

St. Louis part duex...

Hey all, Im sitting in a La Quinta in STL. Had areally good show tonight. Good turn out, good reaction, good playing. We all had a really good time.

There are good and bad things about not brining a kit on the road. The good = No set up, more room for storage, less hassle. Bad = never know what you will have to play on. Tonight was by far the worst. Pearl export from 1990's. OLD heads, a bass drum with pillows, blankets, and a small child for dampening. (not really a child in it, but it would have slept comfortably I'm sure) . I had to go the ?uestlove root playing only with a kick, snare, floor tom, ride/crash, and hats. Honestly, I enjoyed the set-up. It made me play a lot more simpler, which for hip-hop/rock is good. I might consider tweaking what I use.

But overall it was a good night. We are off to Kansas city tomorrow. woot.....

We can sleep in tomorrow which is AWESOME!!!!

goodnight...

Portland

One of the most interesting places ive ever been too. Its hard to describe really what portland is like....

west coast

So i think I have determined the best part of touring.......

for me at least....

It is: Seeing the country....

Our country is so beautiful. Every I have gone on the west coast is just stunning. We drove from northern Oregon to Medesto California today and it was insane how beautiful it was.....God is amazing. God created this beauty, but i was thinking, Heaven!!!!! I can not even fathom the thought of what it will be like. A perfect place, wow......because to me, its hard to believe that something else could be as beautiful....

Well the bad part of touring comes next....

3 of our CA dates have been cancelled so we have off till friday. It really stinks, but that means we get to go site seeing. Hopefully w will make it to LA. Our show friday is in Lancaster, which is about 1 hour north of LA, so im hoping we get to go....

Well my bed (made out of church chairs, foam, and a sleeping bag) is calling my name.......AAAAAA THE GLORIOUS LIFE OF A ROCKSTAR!!!!!!! HAHA.......i love it.........

love

Love -

1 Corinthians 13: 1-13
-And now I will show you the most excellent way: If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the ruth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preservers. Love never fails, but where there are prophecies they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled. Where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put my childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror, then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part ; then i shall fully; even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. but the greatest of these is love.

This section in scripture is awesome. As I mentioned in a post before, to me love seems to be a huge theme throughout the bible. I think that the end of this scripture sums it up( And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. but the greatest of these is love). There are many different types of love....... God's love, wife/husband love, christian brother and sister love, parental love, the list goes on and on. There are mounds and mounds of scripture references pointing towards love. I think that the examples of God's love are obviously and are guidelines for how to love. I think that God's biggest act of love was in John 3:16. He proved his love for us by sending his son to die.

One of my favorite verses on love is when us men are instructed to love your wife as God loves the church. Wow, is that a huge burden or what? To me though, I see it as a challenge that I cant wait to take on. I want to love my future wife(Erin) as much as a God loves the church. She deserves that kind of love, any wife does. I think with those words, we as men are challenged to live up to God's standards on love, which leads back to 1 Cor. 13 -

"Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the ruth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preservers."

These should be our guidelines on loving our husband/wife, christian brothers and sisters, parents, friends, loved ones, authority figures and so on.....

I know this is a lot of jumbled thoughts thrown together, but hey, its just what ive seen from this scripture.

Im in Moscow!!!!!!!! Idaho :)

Hey all!!!

We are in Moscow, Idaho right now, its a cool little town.......very quaint and rustic, as seems to be the trend in most of the towns we have played in. Last night we played at the Nuart Theater. It was a show seperate from the tour. Very cool place run by a very cool guy named Eric. The building was an old movie theater. They actually kept the screen up and run movies for free every friday night, very cool. They had a coffee bar and book store in front. The crowd was small but good. It is always awkward when there are chairs, because everyone always looks so confined and not able to move.

My internal time clock is soooooo askew. We were in mountain time last night, two nights before that we were in eastern time, and now we are in pacific time. AAAA!!!!! It's very hard to keep track of time and days when your in a new place/surrounding every day.

We stayed in a La Quinta which was nice. We are doing laundry and catching up on things which is nice. The good thing about all of this is that Moscow is only 20-30 minutes from where the next show on tour is. Sooooo we got to sleep in, do laundry, RELAX!!!, and take it easy which is very nice.

I've been really enjoying Romans as of late. I've been reading over Romans 12:1-2. Being a living sacrifice to God. It is really an encouragement and reminder.....really good stuff...Also I have been reading a lot about love in the bible.......brotherly love, marital love, christian love......and it really seems like everything comes back to love.....love really seems to be "it" in the bible, its really interesting.......and I am enjoying reading more about it.

Another thing I read is John 1. The singer from Children 18:3 i've noticed reads this in the morning. It's titled "The word became Flesh" I would encourage you to read it......its really awesome!!!!!

Pictures will be coming.....its just hard to upload stuff when we have very slow internet, thanks la quinta!!!!! :)

I dont know where I am...

Hey all,

Well this weekend was great. We flew down to Orlando, FL Thursday afternoon. We played at the LCMS youth gathering. It was at the Wyndam resort on International Drive. It was good because my church from back home was there so I saw a whole bunch of people that I knew. Another awesome thing was that my parents suprised me and flew Erin down for the weekend. Basically awesome, haha. So it went really well....There were about 300 kids there so it was a fun crowd to play too. We played A TON. We played around 35-45 songs so it was a little taxing. We had a great response from the kids and we all had a great time.

We finished out the weekend playing a worship set at 12:00 a.m. which was awesome. Erin came up and sang too which was awesome.

We left sunday morning to fly back to Denver. We got in around 12:30 or so and then started driving north. I think we are in WY but im not positive. I slept for a while so i guess we will find out in the morning. Ill post some pictures from Orlando soon....

Long awaited update!!!!!

Hey guys!!!

Well, its being a crazy couple of days.....I havent been able to post anything because we have not found wireless.

Well after our 9 hour drive from PA to Joliet, IL we got a room at a days inn. Wow.....bad choice on our part. There was one window about 3 feet by 6 feet, our bathroom tub had a hole in it beside the drainage hole, and to top it off, it had an old bar of soap in it. ONLY $40.00!!!!! WOOT. haha.....

Joliet was awesome, it was snowy and we had lots of snowball fights.

Then we hit the road for another long drive to Nebraska. It was about 7 hours or so. I drove and it was one of the worst drives of my life. It was WINDY and SNOWY. The wind was so bad that it would shake the van. As we were driving we counted upwards of 40-50 cars/trucks/semi's in the median or side of the road. THey had lost control because of the wind and were stuck in the snow. It was scary to say the least.

We got to Nebraska and didnt play a show. Corey had eaten some bad food and was throwing up and couldnt sing. So that sucked a lot. We still sold merch though, even though we didnt play, which was cool.

So then we had a host home that night. We got to shack up with the guys from Dizmas.....they are cool bunch of guys and really have a heart for the Lord.

Then today we played a show in Pella, Iowa. Proably one of the worst shows ive ever played in my life. BUT it wasnt our fault. The sound guys were TERRIBLE!!!! We played our first song and heard some feedback. Then once we started Move, it just went down hill. Feedback so loud we couldnt hear, then Corey's mic stopped working, then Chris's guitar amp started feeding back, and it was just terrible. We actually had to stop in the middle of the song. That sucks. It ended up being ok becuase the kids were cool and rolled with it and we finised out the set.

So now we are at a holiday inn (cHLLin At tHe HolIdaY iN...haha) anyways and we are leaving at about 3.a.m to drive to Denver to fly down to Orlando, FL to play. So yea.....craziness

Well I dont really have to time to upload pictures so I will do that later....Hope everyone is doing good and ill post something soon....

The Noteworthy - Bedford, Pennsylvania

Sitting here in a Comfort Inn, what is up?

We played a show tonight in Bedford, PA at the Noteworthy. The venue was interesting, it was half music venue, half skateboard place. It was very cool and very different. The show was good...crowd was a little hard but it was alright. Not the best show we have done but it will do I guess. A few musical mistakes by everyone but nothing to major. I am loving being able to be the first band.....it has its positives and negatives.

Positive: We get a soundcheck, I get to set up the kit how I like it, no rushing to get stuff on stage
Negative: Not everyone is there always in the beginning, Sound quality in audience is never the best

Also got to meet Craig Sanners dad, sister, and other people (sorry not sure who the others were). Very nice people and I am so glad they came out to see us.

On a lighter note, my neck hurts because I went too crazy behind the kit tonight, kinda funny I think.... One really great thing that has come from the tour thus far is the change in my stage presence....playing with rock/hardcore/metal bands you have to step up ur stage show. I've been watching a lot of youtube to see how other well known bands rock it on stage and I think im getting to a good stage show.....

Well here are some pictures from tonights venue....

have a good one...

Brookville, PA

YO YO YO,

well we just finished another show in PA. Proably our best one to date. Crowd was awesome, energy was there, and we all played very well. I am totally loving playing out live. Once I sit down behind the kit I just love it. There is nothing better than palying music to an audience that is into it, its like a natural high almost. It is so fun and I cant wait for it every day. I think the worst part of touring that I see right now is the driving. It's hard to stay awake while im in a car and so i usually end up sleeping, which gets old. It's also hard for me to stay awake when I am driving....So I love everything else about touring so far except the driving....

Well, here are some pictures from tonight......the venue was called The Scarlet Chord -

Tomorrow night we are in Bedford PA and then we are of to Nebraska!!! woooot!!! haha......only a 16 hour drive! We are actually going to stop half-way in Chicago, then finish up driving the next day. Have a good one!

Morgantown, West Virginia...

Hey hey,

What is up, its about 2 a.m. and we are in our hotel room. We just finished playing at The Metropolitian Theater in Morgantown, WV. Awesome venue! It was big too. There are actually have the High School Musical 2 tour production come there. Crazy cool building, it was a little rustic/old/falling apart, but sooo very cool. The stage was big and the lighting was supurb. Sound Check was a little rough because it went way to fast. There were 7 BANDS ON THE BILL!!!! HOLY COW it was crazy.....A little to much I thought. We all had about 15 minutes which sucked(of course Dizmas had there regular 35 minutes). Our set went well though, I had no monitor again which stunk, but I thought I did fine. Man, putting on a good show is tiring!!! We are all wiped out because we give it all we have in those 15 minutes.

It was a good night and it seems like our sets have been going really well. I still get nervous using tracks every night because If something gets off, its over, haha. But i am getting a little better at it. Clicks dont bother me at all anymore.....I actually never waant to play without one again. Its just using tracks scares me a little, but its all good

Ill put somepictures up from the venue and the very cool city we are in later

everyone have a good weekend!!! Much love!

yo yo yo...

hey all,

Its about 11:15 in Raleigh, NC. We played a show last night at Vintage 21. The crowd was great and our set was awesome. Our set was bumped from a 20 min to 17 min so we had to cut out Rep 1 :( (my favorite song) but its all good. They are just trying to figure out logistics and hopefully we will be bumped back to our regular 20 min. But everying thing else was good, I thought I played well.

Before last nights show we decided that we needed to bump up our stage presence a little bit. So consciously(sp?) we all tried to give more and boy we were all tired. It was 17 minutes of crazy, thats for sure. I thought we looked and sounded really good. We had a good reaction from fans and the crowd seemed to love it.

Well, I will be posting more later about my bible study stuff, we are running late as it is, hopefully we will find internet somewhere. I will be reading and writing about it in the van.

Ill also post some pictures from last night and some other pictures...

just a thought....

God's Awesome....I love him. yea.

reading thoughts...

I've been reading a lot in Proverbs the last few weeks. I was reading and meditating over Proverbs 19:11 -
"A man's wisdom gives him patience, it is to his glory to overlook an offense"

I really like this because I have been praying a lot recently for patience and for wisdom. This kind of puts the two together so it was really cool to read and meditate over this verse because it was a big encouragement.

Also I have been meditating over Romans 10:14-15 for a while. It has been a big encoragement to me the last few weeks as I have been praying for this tour and my life in the future.
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

That really to me sums up the call on my life........especially the " how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" To me, our jobs as Christian men and women is to spread the word of our creator, lover, and savior, Jesus Christ. I think music is a universal language that can reach millions upon millions. God has blessed me and many others to spread his word. I think that we need to remember sometimes that God has blessed us all with gifts that can bless others and that can shine God's light to the world......

Well I think im off to bed!! No scheduled playing tomorrow = sleep = awesome. Haha

good night

1st Show

Good afternoon....

Well last night was great! It was our first show in Jacksonville FL. All the bands were really nice and friendly. We got off the bus and everyone was sayin hey and shaking hands and it was real down to earth. So that is awesome.
The show itself was good. Man, it all goes by fast! We sound checked last and had about 10 minutes before we actually played. Then after our 20 minute set we had 5 minutes to get everying off stage. I shared a kit (Very nice sounding TAMA STARCLASSIC (DAVE WINK WINK) Bubinga kit). Still I had my whole in-ear/monitor rig, cymbals, pedals, and snare to get off in 5 mintues. It was very hectic.
The only crapy part last night was that I had no monitor. The way the stage was set up, they had no monitor send for my mixer. Weird I know. But ya, so I had to play the whole set with just my click in my ear. Although I made 1 or 2 mistakes I thought I did very well considering no monitor.
Well we are in North Carolina right now at Heather Issacs parents house. Man it was nice to sleep in a bed and take a shower!!! Were going to the beach later which will be nice for sure.

Ill post more later im sure. Ill put some pictures up for you of the Murry Hill Theater in FL.

Day 1

Well here I am in our tour "bus." It's about 2:30 EST. We left Memphis last night around 1 a.m. It was hard trying to sleep because there are only two bunks and four chairs. I slept the whole night on a chair. It was rough but I got some sleep.
Tonight we are playing in Jacksonville, FL. It's our first official tour stop. We are all really excited because we played our set for the first time in front of people yesterday and it seemed to go over real great. I think all of our hours of practicing are paying off. Are set was really tight and the audience seemed to really dig it.
My goal is to eat healthy while were gone. I've decided to stop drinking soda all together and try to have little or no fast food. We stopped at Wendy's today for lunch and just got a Caesar Salad and water. It was good and probably the healthiest thing on the menu,
Well that is all for right now.......Ill check back in before or after we play

Peace!
